GET.invest Introduction Event Eswatini
On the 28th of November, GET.invest, in cooperation with the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Eswatini, will organise an introduction event, to be hosted by the Ministry of Economic Planning and Development and held in Ezulwini, Eswatini. The event will introduce the concept of market development for renewable energy and go into detail on associated financing challenges, with a view to making it easier for local small farmers and agri-businesses to access finance for this purpose.
During the event, the opportunities for investments in energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions will be discussed together with the Swazi associations for sugar cane and horticulture small farmers. The event ties into a larger effort by the Delegation of the EU to Eswatini to promote food security and sustainable agriculture in the context of its National Indicative Programme. The agenda will feature, among other items:
- Keynotes by the Delegation of the EU to Eswatini, GET.invest and local business associations;
- A two-hour training session and one-on-one meetings with seasoned advisors from the GET.invest Finance Catalyst;
- Q&A sessions and networking opportunities.
Participants will gain a better understanding of investment opportunities for energy efficiency and renewable energy in agricultural processes (irrigation, milling, processing) and the available EU support mechanisms and technical assistance; for example, blended finance (in particular ElectriFI).
Moreover, the participants will have the opportunity to provide feedback to GET.invest’s proposed service packages for private sector mobilisation and pipeline development in Eswatini. Participants’ feedback will ensure the packages’ relevance and alignment with the needs of entrepreneurs and the Government.
