Malawi-EU Investment Forum 2024

The overall objective of the first Malawi-EU Investment Forum is to provide a platform for joint analysis, collaboration, learning and growth, ultimately contributing to the success of the participating businesses. It will serve as a venue for national institutions and commercial entities, the European private sector and the Delegation of the European Union to Malawi to identify suitable policies, regulations or initiatives aimed at attracting more investment from the EU private sector and to help improve the business environment in Malawi. 

Meet the GET.invest team and GET.invest Finance Access advisors during the conference: 

• Tuesday, 26 November (13:45-14:00 CAT) – Launch of moderated B2B: access to finance (EFSD+), agriculture and tourism, presented by GET.invest
• Tuesday, 26 November (15:30-17:00 CAT) – Scaling rural electrification in Malawi: the case for mini-grids deployment, led by H.E. David Martinon (French Ambassador to South Africa, Malawi and Lesotho) and moderated by GET.invest. The objective of this session is to explore and showcase investment opportunities in Malawi’s energy sector, focusing on rural electrification and more specifically on the mini-grids model.
• Wednesday, 27 November (14:00-15:30 CAT) – Financing investments in Malawi. This session will present various financing opportunities available for investment in agriculture, energy and tourism in Malawi. It will also provide information on funding instruments available from Malawi and European finance institutions, among others. Insights will be given into existing financial instruments for both the public and private sectors, including how to increase local currency lending.
