Navigating this landscape of facilities, however, can be a challenge, both for those who are looking for support as well as for those offering it. This is why the European Union has created a One Stop Shop as part of its Team Europe Africa-EU Green Energy Initiative. GET.invest has been mandated to serve as the Team Europe One Stop Shop, your access point for information about and facilitated access to support and financing instruments for green energy in Africa.

• For energy companies and project developers, the One Stop Shop provides a comprehensive overview of available solutions and financing instruments and combines this with independent and tailor-made advisory services to facilitate and accelerate access to these instruments.
• For providers of financing and support solutions, it creates visibility for the offered instruments, and helps build a pipeline of viable investees.

The European Union is a committed partner in the transition to clean and sustainable energy – which constitutes a key element of the European Green Deal, the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals.

This transition can only be achieved through a collaborative effort. Therefore, the European Union and Africa have joined forces through the Africa-EU Green Energy Initiative that will guide common efforts in the coming years. This initiative aims to scale up the European Union’s contribution to achieving SDG7 in Africa, including increasing the rate of renewable energy in the energy mix, providing more African people with access to affordable, reliable and sustainable energy services, and ultimately moving towards universal access so that no one is left behind. It is part of the Partnership for Green Transition and Energy Access, as proposed in the Comprehensive Strategy with Africa, of the external dimension of the European Green Deal (December 2019) and of the EU’s Global Response (April 2020) to fight the negative impacts of Covid-19.

The Team Europe One Stop Shop is an important element of the Team Europe Africa-EU Green Energy Initiative, aiming to refer the private sector to the most suitable support mechanisms and thereby encouraging the private sector to participate in and benefit from the Africa-EU Green Energy Initiative.
